How to repair coloured and bleached hair!

*Before you read this article, I understand that I have a number of people who read my blogs outside of the U.K. so I am using the English U.K. version of spelling so words like "color" will be spelt "colour"*

So, I kind of known to my friends and family as this hippie, vegan, recycling, save the planet and mankind type of person, no chemicals and all natural things only and for the most part that is actually true! However, I have a confession to make I am guilty of using chemicals in my hair for over 6 years. Bottom line is I love to dye my hair! And at least once a week I contemplate on dying it.

This obsession started when I was 16 and I wanted a change as I was starting college, and so I dyed my hair purple
So after the rebellious rocker in me was done with the purple I wanted something way more "out there" so I opted for bright red!

oh how embarrassing this pic is, and how modelesque I thought I was ... anyways, It wasn't long till my hair broke off from the endless colouring and flat ironing almost everyday. I then realised that I was done with it all so when I was 18 and my hair was almost up to my shoulders from breaking off. So, I decided that I was going to dye my hair black and leave it alone so I could grow out my hair without looking crazy with black new growth. So I stopped using heat and I went through loads of trial and error of products and found out that my hair loves 2 things coconut oil and water and that was literally it and till this day that is literally all I used. Slowly my curls were getting tighter and tighter and each time I was so shocked and now that I'm 21 I'm still shocked at how super tight my curls really are because I had no idea.

So after years of finally getting my hair back to its original and beautiful state I wanted a change for my 21st birthday, and that old little devil on my shoulder said go for the "wow factor" so this time I wanted green hair! yes GREEN HAIR you read that correctly! But in order for my green to show I had to bleach my hair which is something I have never ever done before and I was scared as hell. So since my sister had some bleach I used it, not doing any research I dived straight in and before you knew it, I had done it and immediately I was regretting it while it was happening, I could already feel how dry it was but I proceeded with it and I now had green hair.
I loved the colour but my hair was uber dry at the ends where I bleached it, so after about a month I decided that I couldn't keep up with my hair colour and decided to dye it back to black ... my hair pattern was looser and so dry. This frustrated me because Ive been trying to take care of my hair for 3 years and my curl pattern was now destroyed.

So this is how I got it back and how you can too:

1) deep condition every time you wash your hair

2) Use a very heavy oil or butter (like castor oil or whipped shea butter) on the parts that you bleached once you dampen it with water as often as you can

3) Protective styles are going to help you with retaining the moisture so do them as often as you can.

Eventually my hair will soak up all that moisture that was missing when you bleached your hair and go right back to what you originally had which was your glorious kinks and curls! THERE IS NO TIME FRAME for when this is going to happen because every one is different and every one has a different scale of laziness, so if you make this you're top priority then your hair will bounce back as soon as possible.

This is after the whole colouring and bleaching process ^^. Furthermore, I will never ever bash the natural dying hair community because I absolutely love coloured hair! But those are the tips for restoring your hair! Hope this works out for you guys!
